My Pool Checklist!

If you're anything like me and slightly obsessed with beauty products, or even if you're just looking for some tips on what to bring to the pool, I'm your girl. :) I had a system down last summer that is only improving more! But for now, here's the list!

1. A medium or large sized tote bag to hold all your stuff. Just decide if you want to carry your towel or not. Which brings us to...
2. A towel. :)
3. Sunscreen. SPF 30 or above.
4. Tanning oil that has SPF. I like this one by Hawaiian Tropic. It's perfect for helping you build that glow but you're also protecting your skin.

5. A bottle of water or juice. My personal favorite is Lipton Green Tea citrus. (I'm literally addicted!) Staying hydrated is really important when you're out in the sun.
6. Lip balm with SPF.
7. My new obsession: conditioner! It might seem weird, but this tip will save your hair this summer. Once you've gotten it wet, put some conditioner in your hair and leave it throughout your time at the pool. It will keep the chlorine from damaging it. I got this tip from my hairstylist and I've done it twice already this year. I promise you it works like a charm! You can get a super cheap drugstore conditioner too. I picked up this one after smell-testing five or six in the drugstore...shhh!! ;)

8. Your favorite pair of sunglasses.
9. Ipod and headphones.
10. A summer read. (This is my best friend and I's favorite from last summer.)

I hope that this list helps someone! It's perfect for  laying out by the pool in the summer. It seems like a lot so you can definitely leave out some of the extras but this is what works really well for me! All of these products are my tried and trues. Enjoy!! xoxo Katie

Rojo Toes

My toenails are always painted red.
Red is my favorite color, as you may be able to tell by my blog, but I also think it's just perfect for sexy summer toes. I've gotten so used to it that my toes don't look like my toes when they're not red. The only exception for this that I will make is a French pedicure.
Since I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of red polishes, I thought it would be appropriate to share some of my favorites!

My primary favorite is OPI OPI Red. You can't find a more classic red than this. I chose this picture because it shows the slight blue undertones. There's a hint of shimmer but it's barely detectable. This has been by HG red for years. (Even though I'm sixteen so that's not saying much.)

When I'm feeling more adventurous (ha) I'll go for OPI OPI on Collins Ave. This is a beautiful coral color.

This one I picked up in the last year of so. It's called Red Carpet by Revlon Colorstay. It's a bright red, brighter than the OPI Red. I have it on my toes right now.

Last but not least, this is Zoya Burke. It's a dark red creme. In my opinion, Zoya polishes paint on better than any other. I would probably recommend this one over any of the other polishes mentioned but they're all stunning and perfect for tips and toes!

I hope other red nail polish lovers will find this helpful!! :) xoxo Katie

My DIY Cutoffs

I'll admit it...I'm not usually one for DIY (do-it-yourself) projects. I don't like sewing, I dislike crafts, and my artsy side is not suited for painting and putting cute little things together. I usually avoid anything in the DIY family. But, when my friend's aunt gave me these jeans, I found myself not really given a choice but to remake them.

I don't think I really even need to explain these. I don't know where to begin. The fact that they're ombre, twice? I don't think the ombre trend should ever be applied to denim. And they're sparkly. And they're flare jeans. I wanted to give them back but she didn't want them so I decided to make them into cutoffs.

I've never made cutoffs before.

I looked up a few tutorials on Youtube. The process is actually very simple. Scissors and jeans is pretty much all you need. I tried them on and drew a line with eyeliner for where i wanted them to end. I cut them slightly higher toward the hips and lower near the crotch. I wasn't quite sure what I should expect.

I got these hideous jeans to look cute. And I have a new pair of shorts for summer. I'm proud of them. Not to mention they fit the high-waisted trend.

Maybe it's time for me to get into DIY projects after all. xoxo Katie
